Lydia Laur (Stanat) passed away peacefully at the Woodstock General Hospital on Sunday, August 25, 2019 in her 96th year. Born in Lithuania on August 4, 1924. Predeceased by her husband Clifton (Kip) Russell Laur (2006). Caring mother to her 3 children Sharon Thompson (Jim), Catherine Bennett and David Laur. Loving grandmother to Carrie Sholdice (Craig), Paul Demeyere (Kerri), Alison Vranic (John), Brett Bennett, Mike Laur and Karly Laur. Great grandmother to Dustin, Clint, Callie, J.R., Daelyn, Avia, Bryson, Adam and Jordan. Great great Grandmother to Ellison and Jack. Lydia was an aunt to several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Martha and Alec Stanat and siblings Arthur Stanat, Otto Stanat, Irma Rigole and Erna D’Eon. Lydia owned a hair salon for over 30 years. She had a talent for cooking and baking and enjoyed gardening and tending to her orchids. She was an expert seamstress and also enjoyed knitting slippers for her family members. The family wishes you to join them on Thursday August 29th from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Ostrander’s Funeral Home, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg, ON N4G 3T6 (519) 842-5221 to share memories with family and friends. Inurnment to follow at the Tillsonburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lydia’s memory may be made to Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital or the charity of your choice and can be done by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home.
