Forever In Our Hearts
Larry Palmer of Calgary, AB (born in Peterborough, ON, June 18, 1955) passed away on August 11, 2019, at the age of 64 after losing his battle against cancer.
Larry had a deep love for life, his friends, animals, and nature. Whenever he could, he’d ride his Harley motorcycle and did so until his health no longer permitted it. Wherever he went, his outgoing nature helped him make friends quickly and leave long-lasting impressions. His good heart, loyalty, honesty, and positive outlook, even in the face of adversity, was an inspiration to many.
Larry will be missed dearly by his friends and he will live on in our hearts, minds, thoughts, and laughs forever.
Following his wishes, there will be no funeral service. Instead, his friends will get together at his neighbourhood pub and celebrate his life. Larry wants you to remember to live life to the fullest, appreciate every moment with those you love, and to laugh and explore. And then to laugh and explore some more.
His friends would like to particularly thank Larry’s family physician and medical staff who provided incredible support to him during his illness. This poem, written by Larry himself, beautifully illustrates his spirit that shall live on forever:
My Life is a Flower Garden
In that garden is a box called cancer.
There is nothing I can do about it. It is incurable.
I choose not to water this box.
Except for research purposes.
In the rest of the garden
I choose what goes in there:
The people I love. The flora and fauna I love.
The things I enjoy to do, feel, etc.
These are the boxes I choose
to water and nurture.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Larry Palmer 2019..
