KOJDER, KAZ (Kazimier Stanley), age 68, of Lake Cowichan, BC, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of July 26, 2019.
Born on April 22, 1951, raised in Victoria, BC, Kaz also spent many years living and working in Vancouver, Surrey, the Lower Mainland and parts of the BC Interior before retiring and settling in beautiful Lake Cowichan, which became his happy place – a perfect setting and new community to call home.
Ever the outdoorsman, Kaz loved taking long hikes with his beloved dogs over the years, skiing, camping, canoeing, and fishing, whether on his own, with friends or with his son Daniel. He was an avid reader, a history buff, loved to discuss and debate current events, and was incredibly proud of his Polish heritage. Winning at backgammon, cooking his legendary lamb dinners, tending to his garden, and enjoying the company of friends were a few of his favourite pastimes. An unassuming and kind man, Kaz was always there to lend a hand and provide support to those dearest to him.
Predeceased by his parents, Jan (Nov. 1999) and Pelagia (Apr. 2006), he is survived by his son Daniel (Samantha); partner Cindy Barber; sisters Teresa and Barb; nephews Jordan, Nick and Zach; extended family in BC and Poland; and many friends in Lake Cowichan, Victoria and the Lower Mainland.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Lake Cowichan Royal Canadian Legion Branch 210
(15 N Shore Road) on Sunday, August 18th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Please come and celebrate Kaz’s life, share stories and memories, and raise a glass in his honour.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon.
