Kathy (Mickelson) Hanson, 65, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan formally of Melfort, Saskatchewan passed away suddenly on August 15th, 2019. In keeping with the wishes of Kathy, there will be no funeral services. At her request, there will be a small family gathering to reflect on her life.
Kathy was born in Kinistino, Saskatchewan on June 6th, 1954 to Leonard and Agnes Mickelson. She took her schooling in Kinistino and went on to take secondary schooling in Melfort. She held several jobs that utilized her bookkeeping and secretarial skills. Her most recent job was as a legal secretary at Legal Aid.
She met her husband Marv in September 1972 and they welcomed their daughter Cara Lee on January 12th, 1974. They were married on May 14th 1977.
They moved to Melfort in 1981 and remained there until their recent move to Saskatoon the summer of 2018. Marv and Kathy enjoyed their life together and faced all the joys and challenges life threw at them. They loved each other greatly and made an amazing team.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Agnes Mickelson and her younger sister Marilyn. She is lovingly survived by her husband Marv, daughter Cara and grandchildren Evan and Hannah, her siblings: Edith (Wes) Nelson, Arthur (Pat) Mickelson, and Debbie (Stuart) Stilborn, mother-in-law Marjorie Work, sister-in-law Sandy (Rick) Butler, brother-in-law Garry Larson, uncle (brother-in-law) George (Agnes) Hanson, aunt (sister-in-law) Viv Oleniuk, and many special aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her special furry friend Daisy will miss her dearly.
Kathy lived life to the fullest. She was the most caring, generous, loyal and loving person. She valued experiences and loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Kathy loved to travel and took many trips with her daughter, siblings and friends over the years. She hosted many family get togethers and enjoyed visiting, telling stories and laughing. She was very proud of her daughter and she loved her grandchildren Evan and Hannah with everything she had. Kathy traveled to Indianapolis often to spend time with them and attend their various activities. She was very actively involved in their lives and they adored her immensely. She enjoyed spending time with her siblings and their families and doting on her great nieces and nephews.
Her family and friends will be rich with memories of a lovely and compassionate woman. She will be missed beyond measure by many and she will forever live on in our hearts.
