Joseph L. Knowles
1936-2019
Joseph Lane Knowles passed away unexpectedly at home in Perth-Andover
in his 83rd year on August 7th 2019.
Joe was born in Fort Fairfield, ME, on November 26, 1936 with his twin
sister, Joyce Bell. He was the son of the late Thomas and Catherine
(Grant) Knowles. Joe leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years,
Frances Knowles (Hunter); his daughters, Margaret Ann Baker (Peter) of
Tilley, NB, Rhonda Campbell (Wade) of Fredericton, NB, Beth Knowles
(David Weir) of Fredericton, NB; his son, Joseph Knowles (Francine) of
Grand Falls, NB; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren; his
son-in-law, Dwight Everett of Fredericton, NB.
Joe was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Nancy Everett; his
twin sister, Joyce Bell; and his brother, Harold Knowles.
Joe had many occupations over the years as, chef, Insurance appraiser,
business owner, meteorologist, pilot, auxiliary RCMP, DJ and meat
cutter.
Joe was well known mostly for being a DJ at the WOZI Sunday morning
radio show. He was a member of Canadian order of Foresters and a
longtime Masonic member.
In earlier years he enjoyed, hunting, snowmobiling, seal hunting
trips, playing cards, traveling, spending time with grandchildren and
feeding the birds. As many well acknowledge he was always up for a
good debate, and a steak dinner cooked rare. He discovered social
media in later life and kept in constant contact with friends and
relatives.
Respecting Joe’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral
service held. A private graveside service will be held with Father
Gilbert Doddatto officiating. Interment will be in the Perth-Andover
United Baptist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Southern Victoria Cancer
Assistance Fund or the MS Society of Canada would be appreciated by
the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home,
Perth-Andover, NB.
