Jennifer White-Aloe
1926-2019
It is with a broken heart that I announce that on Thursday, August
15th, 2019, my mom and best friend, Jennifer White-Aloe, who was loved
by all who knew her, peacefully passed away at Cambridge Memorial
Hospital at the age of 93, surrounded by those who loved her. Born in
Poland on July 29th, 1926, she came to Canada with her parents at the
age of 4, originally settling in Prince Albert, SK and then moving to
Southern Ontario. When she was 10 years old, her mother died, leaving
her to raise her 3 siblings, including a baby. As an adult, she worked
in factories including Hostess and From Brothers, eventually becoming
a homemaker. She loved dancing, reading, knitting, talking on the
phone with friends, cooking and baking and was an excellent cook and
baker. Her specialties included homemade bread, ravioli and perogies
to name a few. In her later years, she became a fierce card player,
playing euchre, bid euchre and solo. She loved people and made friends
wherever she went. She had the ability to connect with others, making
them feel special. Those who knew her remarked on her amazingly
positive attitude despite the many challenges she faced as well as her
infectious smile which never faded. She considered herself blessed and
noted the « angels » who always seemed to appear when she
needed them. She was known for her quick wit, often catching people
off guard and giving them a chuckle. She loved a good sense of humour.
Many thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses who have cared for her
over the years, specifically Dr. Jolly, Dr. Glenn Martin, Dr. Daly,
Dr. El Ghamudi, Dr. S. Arora, Dr. A. Young, Dr. Bhella and Dr. Nuri,
the phenomenal team of nurses and staff at the GRH Renal Department as
well as the amazing team of nurses, physiotherapists and PSW’s on the
3rd floor Surgical Department of CMH. Thanks also to the team of
nurses on the 5th floor of GRH where she stayed within the last year.
In honour of Jenny’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration
of life will be held at a later date. Please take a moment to
celebrate her life with a smile and be someone’s « angel ».
Mom – you will never be forgotten and will be greatly missed by all
who knew you. Donations to GRH, CMH, the Kidney Foundation of Canada
or any charity of your choice are appreciated.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Jennifer White-Aloe..
