Passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2019 with loving family by his side. Beloved husband of Maria Falletta (nee Rugnetta) for over 44 years. Proud father and father-in-law of Vince and Alesha, Gerry and Melissa, David and Christina and Carlo Falletta. Adored nonno of Sofia, Gemma, Giancarlo, Alyssa, Adrian and Vincenzo Falletta. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Cologero (late, 2002) and Angela Falletta, Carmelina and Salvatore Cutaia, and Pina and Giuseppe Falco as well as many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law throughout Italy. Cherished uncle of Lina and Luciano Grimaldi, Enza and Tony Cirello, Ida and Billy Bistas, Giovanni and Rosa Cutaia, Giuseppe and Luciana Cutaia, Domenico and Anna Maria Falco, Vincenzo and Mary Falco. Predeceased by parents Vincenzo and Carmelina Falletta.
Following his older brother “Charlie”, Joe immigrated to Hamilton from Racalmuto, Sicily, where he continued to work as a mason, a trade he loved, until he retired nearly 50 years later. Never leaving his home town behind, Joe returned to Italy often and eventually met his beautiful wife Maria. Together they returned to Canada to build a home and start a family. This family was his pride and joy. Joe loved nothing more than spending time with his four sons, Vince, Gerry, David and Carlo, even bringing the young boys to work with him. He will be remembered as an incredibly hard-working and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, always ready to have a glass of wine and a conversation. He will be greatly missed by family, relatives and many friends throughout Canada, the U.S. and Italy.
Resting at Bay Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 1694 Upper James Street, Hamilton at 10am. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Burlington. Thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Peter’s Hospital for their considerate care over the past years. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
