Al was born in Winnipeg on July 10, 1922. He passed away peacefully at his residence at 97 years of age on August 21, 2019. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret (Peg) in 1997.
Al spent most of his life in the Deer Lodge area of Winnipeg, residing on Winchester Street for most of his life. He joined the RCAF at the age of 18 years, serving in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe for 4 ½ years during World War 2. He was a member of the Canadian Legion Branch #4, a life member of both the 409 RCAF Nighthawk Association and the Normandy Veterans Association. He was a past president and honorary life member of the Deer Lodge Curling Club, where he began curling in 1936. In his final curling years, he curled with the Antlers, in a senior’s league.
Al retired from Great West Life in 1983 after 31 years, and enjoyed many years of golf and travel with Peg.
