Obituary for
Ernest Thomas (Ernie) Lupul
On Friday August 23, 2019 Ernest Thomas Lupul (Ernie) passed away peacefully due to complications arising from esophageal cancer. His wife, Hilda, and daughters, Sheri and Angela, were at his bedside. He was 75 years old.
Ernie was born in Edmonton and was predeceased by both his parents, Eugenia (Hassey) and George Lupul. He is survived by his wife, Hilda; his children, Sheri Bentley, Greg Lupul and Heather Lalonde; Hilda’s children, Brad Klein, Angie Klein and Myrna Nanson; his siblings, Alan Lupul, Angeline Bayley, Gordon Lupul and Terrance Lupul; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Ernie started his working life surveying pipelines for Alberta Gas Trunk line and worked through the transitions that changed the company to Nova Corporation and then to TransCanada Pipelines. Prior to retirement in 2000, he was a supervisor and senior analyst working out of Calgary head office.
He was an avid woodsman and loved his chainsaw, quad and skidoo. He was a lifetime member of the Crammond Community Association. His favourite place on earth was the quarter section near Caroline, Alberta, where he spent much of his retirement. He was a loving partner and father, generous in all things. He will be missed.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the dedicated staff at the Royal Alexandra Hospital ICU who took excellent care of Ernie in his final months.
Prayer Service Saturday, September 7 at 12:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton.
A Celebration of Ernie’s Life will follow at the Park Memorial Reception Centre, 11015 – 101 Street. The family respectfully asks for no flowers or gifts. Donations to a charity made in Ernie’s name, particularly those supporting cancer research, would be appropriate in lieu.
