Edith “Bunny” Patterson 1927 – 2019
Edith “Bunny” Patterson, age 92, died at her home in Truro on Friday, August 3nd, 2019, after a brief illness. Born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, to Ina Macnee and the future Judge Frank Harris Patterson, she grew up in Truro. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Education degree at Mount Allison. Bunny taught in Quebec for four years and then in Nova Scotia in Bridgetown, Canning, and Onslow Junior-Senior High School. She received her library degree from Dalhousie University in 1970 and was for many years the librarian at the Cobequid Educational Centre until her retirement in 1988. Bunny had a life-long love of travelling and a strong commitment to the Truro and Tatamagouche communities. She was an active member of the Truro Canadian University Women and its annual book fair. Bunny was a dedicated supporter of the Colchester Historical Society, a long-time member of the Colchester-East Hants Public Library Board, and a founding member of the Colchester East-Hants Public Library Foundation. She will be greatly missed.
Bunny is survived by her sister Mary Stevenson, nephew John Harris Stevenson, niece Anne Stevenson, and grand-nephew Joshua Elliott. Donations in her memory can be made to the Colchester-East Hants Public Library Foundation, the Nova Scotia Nature Conservatory, or the charity of your choice. Donations can be dropped off at The Colchester Community Funeral Home. The family will be home for visiting between 3 and 5pm on Friday August 9th at 14 Golf Street, Truro.
