Dr. William Robert “Bill” Black
1933 – 2019
It is with deep sadness the family announces the passing of Dr. Bill Black on August 24th at the age of 86.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Marlene; and his four children, Cheryl Black (Kevin Simmons), Bill Black (Cindy Findlay), Brian Black (Alain Mootoo), Dr. Sandra Black (Allan Schuster); as well as his eight grandchildren, Zachary, Caroline, and Chrissy Gee, Hailey and Drew Findlay Black, and Alec, Aubrey and Kyle McIlwraith-Black.
He was predeceased by his parents Chris and Vern Black; as well as his sister Donna, and her husband Norman Budgen.
Dr. Black graduated from the University of Alberta with his MD in 1956. He was a well respected cardiologist in Edmonton for over 50 years, practicing at the Royal Alexandra Hospital as well as heading the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at the Glenrose Hospital where there is an auditorium in his name.
The family would like to thank the staff of 12Y at the General Hospital for making his last years as comfortable as possible.
There will be a celebration of life held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Connelly-Mckinley Funeral Home, 10011 114 Street, Edmonton.
