Daniel « Dan »‘s Obituary
With broken hearts, the family of the late Daniel Thomas Daley, of Riverhead, St. Mary’s Bay, announce his peaceful passing following a lengthy illness. He passed peacefully away on August 21, 2019, at the Lions Manor Nursing Home, Placentia, at the age of 75 years. He is predeceased by his parents Daniel & Annie, sisters Edna and Geraldine, infant brother Edward, parents-in-law Edward & Mollie Tobin: sisters-in-law: Ida Willis, Catherine (Raymond) Ryan, Dianne Daly, Nicole Tobin and Dorothy Tobin and brothers-in-law: Donald Tobin, Frank Tobin, Cyril (Loretta) Tobin, Cliff Willis and Don Fleming.
Left with a lifetime of special memories are his wife Sheila, daughter Darlene (Paul Walsh); sons: Ed (Karen), Bob (Laura) and Reg (Isabel); grandchildren: Eleanor, Owen, Mollie, Muireall, Annie, Faith, Lee, Johnny and great-grandchild Stirling. Also left with fond memories are his sister Magdalen (Gary Yanch); brothers Clarence (Glenda) and Tom, aunt Bertha Noseworthy, uncle Thomas Ryan; sisters and brothers-in-law: Kevin Tobin (Pauline), Millie Hawkins, Ed Tobin, Ray (Madonna) Tobin, Anne Fleming (Johnny), Yvonne (Jerome) Fontaine, Mary Tobin, Willie Willis, members of the Daly, Ryan and Tobin families and his many other relatives and friends.
We would like to extend our thanks to Dr. Tom McGarry for his many years of care to Dad and to the staff of the Lions Manor where he has spent the last 4 years. Your professionalism and care for Dad will always be remembered – Thank you very much.
Dad was an avid volunteer and worked tirelessly in his beloved town of Riverhead for many years as the town’s mayor and as the maintenance man for the town’s water system. He also had many valued friends and customers at Daley’s Auto Service during his years of operation. He was truly a hardworking man with a heart of gold.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Gibbons’ Funeral Home, St. Mary’s, on Monday, August 26, from 2 – 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, August 27, at 10am, at St. Joseph the Worker Church, Riverhead. Burial to follow at St. Joseph the Worker Cemetery.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Dad’s memory may be made to Lions Manor Nursing Home, Placentia (Donation Envelopes available at the Funeral Home).
