Cesar Palacio Merluza passed in peace on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at the age of 72 years. He was born on December 13, 1946 in Pagbilao, Quezon, Philippines.
Cesar will forever be remembered by his family. Preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Merluza, father, Alberto Merluza, mother, Precentacion Merluza, and sister, Edna Santiago (Jose Santiago). He will lovingly be remembered by his wife Lilia Oriola Merluza, children, Albert John Merluza (Rosalynn) and Cherylyn Merluza (Velmor) and siblings Amanda Bejar (Felipe), Edgardo Merluza (Carmelita) and Rizalina Cerrer (Frederico). Proud grandfather of Alyssa Merluza, Aubrey Merluza, and Malia Merluza Exconde.
Cesar immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1974. His soon to be wife followed him shortly one year later. Cesar and Lilia were happily married at St. Edwards church and had three children and three grandchildren. Cesar was a simple, quiet and lovingly devoted family man. Cesar was a welder by trade but was a tailor by heart. At a young age, Cesar had a passion for playing volleyball always reminding his family that he was the “captain of his volleyball team”. Although a quiet person, Cesar was known to his family as a great storyteller where he would always have vivid portrayals of his childhood growing up in the Philippines. Cesar was also known to be a jokester with his signature Filipino “Santa Claus” laugh. Above all else, Cesar truly loved his family and sacrificed greatly to give his family a good life. He will be missed but his smile will stay with us forever.
The family would like to thank the staff at HSC emergency and Seven Oaks dialysis unit, for their kind care and compassion.
Lamay/Viewing will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd., Winnipeg, MB from 6:00pm to 12:00am, with a prayer service at 7:00pm.
Mass of the Reserrection will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at St. Anthony of Padua Parish Church, 250 Burrin Ave., Winnipeg, MB from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Reception to follow at Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd., Winnipeg, MB.
