It is with great sadness that Barry’s family announce his peaceful passing at Rose Villa on June 27, 2019 with family and friends by his side at the age of 78 years.
Barry was born in Lashburn to Hugh and Bernice McGladdery and raised on the family farm near Marsden and was proud of his rural Saskatchewan way of life. He was the second eldest of six children Downey (Ellen), Yvonne (Don), Glenn (Naomi), Doug (Sandra) and Donald (Laura). He resided in Rosetown with his wife Evelyn and family for 50 years. Barry loved being a part of his community and was known to many as Papa Gooch, Bear, Barry, Friend and Grandpa. Barry and Eve leave behind three children Sean (Donna) of Rosetown, Darryl (Raylene) of Melfort and Pam (Graham) of Carstairs, AB. Barry was especially proud of his granddaughter Breah and was happy to teach her family traditions like shooting and learning to drive. Although Barry experienced a decline in health in recent years, he remained active and enjoyed his many passions. Whether he was tinkering with his International trucks and tractors, hunting or visiting with family and friends, he always had a big smile and a story or a joke to tell. Barry was a heavy-duty mechanic, NAPA/Maytag store owner and a school bus driver before he retired and he was always willing to help out and offer his free advice to everyone. He was community minded and enjoyed local activities. He enjoyed coaching or managing all the many teams his kids were involved with over the years and still enjoyed hockey games last winter. He appreciated simple things and always had time to listen and would leave you smiling and feeling good after chatting. Barry held family and traditions dear to his heart and loved to load up the International “Bus” or old “Travelall” and head out on a road trip to the farm or many a rink or ball diamond around the country. Those memories we will never forget! Barry was a man who made time for everyone and made sure no one was left out.
A Celebration of Barry’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at the McGladdery Farm at McGee, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rosetown Wildlife Federation, P.O. Box 1892, Rosetown, SK, S0L 2V0.
