It is with great sadness that the family of Aurora Buenaventura (née Mendoza) announce her passing on Thursday, August 22, 2019, at the age of 85 with the love of her family surrounding her.
Aurora was born in the Philippines in 1933 to Emilio and Elena. After receiving a degree in pharmacy she met the love of her life and best friend, Dr. Edmundo Buenaventura. They would marry in 1960. They welcomed daughters Edith in 1962, and Elena in 1970. The family immigrated to Edmonton in 1972, and welcomed daughter, Edlyn in 1975.
Aurora was a devoted wife, mother, and friend as well as an active volunteer for many years.
Aurora will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Edmundo; daughters, Edith (Jose), Elena (Garry), Edlyn (Jonathan); grandchildren, Joseph (Stacey), Jeffrey, Matthew, Daniel, Elsie, Claire; great-grandchildren, Jack, Lexie; sister, Eleanor (Avelino) as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Aurora was predeceased by her parents, Emilio and Elena; siblings, Emilia, Nenita, Angela, Ernesto, Carlos, Jamie and Emilio Jr.
A Prayer Service will take place on , Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 114 Street NW, Edmonton.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Basilica
