Arnold Victor Crawley
age 72 passed from hospital into eternity to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 as his family members were nearing his side.
Born and raised in the community of East Preston, Arnold was a son of the late Clarence David Crawley and the late Edith Victoria (Williams) Crawley. While growing up, Arnold spent many years working on the family farm alongside his father and brothers. Following his time working on the family farm, Arnold went on to become employed by Woodside Dairy and Harbour Construction, prior to owning and operating his own stone masonry construction business. Arnold ran a lucrative business, employing some of his own family members, along with community members from East Preston, North Preston and surrounding communities for more than 41 years.
He built his own home, where he and his late wife raised their family, on the property he inherited from his father and grandfather before him. Arnold resided in this home until the time of his death for over 45 years. Arnold was a member of East Preston United Baptist Church and was often hired for his construction equipment to open and close graves of several community members that passed on and are buried in the church cemetery of East Preston. Arnold truly was a giver, several times he gave selflessly to provide aid to many seniors in the community.
Arnold is survived by his beloved family, including daughters, Natasha (Réginald) Dantiste of Dartmouth, Phylicia, Vicki both of Cole Harbour and Nicole of Calgary, AB; his four most beloved grandchildren, whom he absolutely loved and cherished, Faith and Eli Apomah of Calgary, AB, Shanald and Réna Dantiste of Dartmouth.; sisters, Sarah (Lawrence “Henry”) Sparks, Kathleen “Kaye” Medley, both of East Preston, Tobi and Stephanie (Anthony “Tony”) Kane both of Dartmouth; brothers, David “Kelly” (Marie Clayton) and Edward “Neddie” (Geraldine) both of Westphal, Andyvine “Andy” and Myers both of Dartmouth, Floyd “Gardner” (Mary) and Burton (Lori) both of East Preston; several nieces and nephews; three god-daughters, lifetime and good friend, Marvin Riley of East Preston and special cousin whom he beheld like a brother, Leon “Chuckie” (Gail) Downey Jr. of North Preston.
Along with his parents, Arnold was predeceased by his former wife Claudia (Diggs) Crawley, brother, Scott and three other siblings in infancy.
Visitation will take place 7:00pm to 9:00pm Tuesday, August 20 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth.
