She was admired for her years of quilting; completing fifty plus quilts that will be forever passed down through the generations. Gertrude was a legend in her own right, come Halloween each year generations of families would frequent her door for a chance to take home one of her famous candy apples. Gertrude loved people and her hands were rarely still, you could always find her baking up a storm in her kitchen for those in the community. Gertrude was a loving and devoted mother to Richard Jr. “Dickie” (Bonnie), Judy (Wayne) Banks and Franklin “Frankie” (Pamela). Cherished Nanny to 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her brother James (Norma) Nickerson; sisters-in-law, Jean and Rachel Nickerson. A personal confession of love and gratitude from one human soul to God. A life richly blessed. The visitation will be held Thursday, 7-9 p.m. at the H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington.
