Our beloved Theresa passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 with her loving family at her side. Her memory will be cherished forever by her husband, Michael; daughter, Andrea (Ryan) Pirie; son, Ryan Shabada (Rachel Cruz); and grandchildren, Taylor Pirie, Eric Pirie, Oliver Shabada, and Jersey Cruz.
She is survived by her siblings, Raymond (Judy), Charmaine, Dianne (Lyle), Phillip (Cheryl), Dennis, Norman (Connie), & Arthur. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Sarah; father, Florian; and sister, Annette Pederson.
Theresa’s love of people (especially babies and children) and her ability to care for her family were her gifts and legacy. She will always be remembered for the enjoyment she shared while hosting parties, visiting with friends and travelling.
Her third bout with breast cancer last year was untreatable, complicated by early onset Alzheimer disease. She still had her sense of humour and love for life when she entered the hospital for her final 11 days of life. Her spark was dimming but her thoughts remained positive.
She deeply loved all of her family and her large group of core friends who lent their support to her and her family in special ways over the past year.
A Celebration of Theresa’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 114 St, Edmonton.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation or The Alzheimer Society of Alberta.
