Sheila Mary Penton
December 28, 1947 – July 28, 2019
On July 28, 2019, Sheila Mary Penton, after a short illness, passed peacefully away surrounded by family members. Sheila was predeceased by her husband, Conrad; infant son, Darren; parents, Allan and Isabel Dwyer; parents-in-law, Michael Anthony and Gladys Penton and brother-in-law, Robert Penton. Left to mourn are her children, Damien, Darryl (Jennifer) and Kelly (Brad). The joy of her life was her two special grandchildren, Conor and Mackenzie. Sheila is also mourned by her siblings Mona, Roy (Christine), Rita (George), Geraldine (Kevin), Margaret, Allan (Millicent), Patricia, Madeline (Gordon) as well as siblings-in-law, Catherine (Steve), Doreen, Helen (Brian), Madonna (Leo), Dennis (Donna), Gilbert, Michael and Harry (Rita). Sheila was born in Tilting, one of nine children whose parents were Allan and Isabel Dwyer. Her childhood was spent there but on completing her university education she began her teaching career at Holy Heart of Mary High School, St. John’s. Upon retirement from there she then taught at MUN Math Centre for many years. By her dedication, zeal and joyful spirit she left a lasting impression on many of her students and fellow teachers. Apart from her professional career, Sheila was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved dearly her three children but so much love, devotion and care over the past forty-three years was given to her handicapped son, Damien. When God called Sheila on July 28, he called home a special person, one who always put others ahead of herself and her generosity was unbounded. May she be welcomed into his kingdom as a “good and faithful servant”. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Tuesday from 6-9pm and Wednesday, from 10am-12pm and 5-9pm. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Pius X Church at 9:30am on Thursday, August 1, 2019. Flowers are greatly accepted.
