Obituary of Marion McKenzie (nee Wallis)
McKENZIE, Marion (née Wallis)- Formerly of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully with family by her side at Westmount Gardens Long Term Care, London on Friday, July 12, 2019, in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late William D. “Bill” Lyle (1961) and the late Harold D. McKenzie (2005). Dearly loved mother of Elizabeth “Liz” Betts (Barry Bray), Susan “Sue” Nicol (Bob), Jane Wales (Robin), and Susan “Sue” Brooks (Ken). Dear sister of William “Bill” Wallis, late Betty Wallis, late Gwendolyn Hepburn, and the late Jean Brokenshire. Fondly remembered by in-laws, James “Jim” Brokenshire, Eleanor Fair, Jack Ireland, and Pat McKenzie. Marion is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews and their families. Born in St. Thomas, ON, October 25, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Margaret (née Meek) Wallis. Marion was a former employee of the Sutherland Shoe Store, and Alma College, St. Thomas. She was a member of First United Church, St. Thomas and a former member of the St. Thomas Curling Club. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the SIFTON FUNERAL HOME, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Tuesday evening, July 16th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. A private family service will be held at the St. Thomas Mausoleum, West Avenue. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the charity of one’s choice will be gratefully acknowledged.
