Tony was one of the 5 first graduates of the Dalhousie School of Architecture.. He commenced his architectural career working for 2 years in Toronto. This was followed by one year in London, England, at the respected firm of Sir Robert Mathew, Johnson, Marshall. Shortly after his return to Halifax he joined the architectural firm of Fowler Bauld & Mitchell, in 1971, staying there until his retirement in 2012, at which time he was president of the company. His work at FBM included the design of many large commercial and health care buildings, one of them being the VG Hospital’s Dixon Building and Cancer Centre, where years later he was to receive his cancer treatment. For many years Tony was an enthusiastic builder of model yachts. Starting as a child building a ship in a bottle, he went on to construct more than a dozen boat models of increasing complexity, including racing yachts, square riggers, and Joshua Slocum’s sloop Spray.
