It is with great sadness that the friends and chosen family of Tracy
Croken announce her passing on the morning of Tuesday, June 25, 2019
at 63 years of age. At her side were her beloved fiancé Cliff
Ruggins, his daughter Sarah, Tracy’s loving chosen sister Fran
Booth and her cherished cat Valentino. Born on 3 October 1955 in the
Town of Emerald, PEI, Tracy was the Island’s first Irving Girl,
an original member of the Bonshaw Hall Community Board, and was the
first woman to independently found, own and operate a signwork company
in Canada. 2019 marks 40 years since she founded her very successful
business, Custom Signwork & Carving. Through this she was able to
share her prolific talents with individuals, businesses and political
organizations across Prince Edward Island and beyond. Tracy will be
remembered for her kindness to friends and chosen family, enjoying
nothing more than sharing stories and a glass of wine in her gardens,
a self-proclaimed ‘Hermit’s Heaven’. She will be
remembered for her fiercely independent spirit, sense of humour,
artistry, and love of animals and nature. Tracy is survived by her
fiancé, Cliff Ruggins, her chosen sister Fran Booth (Rick), her
chosen brothers Ralph Clark (Ann-Marie) and Archie Gillespie (Sharon),
her “coffee girls”, Valerie, Sheila, Gail, Sandy, Ruth,
Linda, and Tissie, siblings Joan, Allan, and Leonard Croken, and
numerous family members and friends. Tracy was predeceased by her
parents Maurice and Mildred (MacNeill) Croken and brothers Harold and
Preston. Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home for visitation Thursday 6-8
pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. James Roman Catholic
Church, Summerfield (Route 2) on Friday at 10:00 am. Interment in St.
James Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the
St. James Roman Catholic Cemetery Fund or the PEI Humane Society.
(Please note there is no procession from Charlottetown – All
