It is with great sadness that the family of J. Roscoe
Snodgrass announces his peaceful passing at home on June 28, 2019.
Born in Youngs Cove, NB on September 2, 1916, he was the son of the
late John M. and Ethel (Branscombe) Snodgrass.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his wife
Dorothy (Domville), son Hudson, brother Harry, nephew Nathan Snodgrass
and his magnificent cat and partner in crime Lynxie.
He is survived by his nieces Nancy Wiggins, Janet (Jack)
Trifts, Dorothy (Dudley) Stymiest, Peggy Domville (Bruce), Christine
Domville and nephew Craig Domville; along with several great nieces
He was a graduate of Normal School, but found teaching was
not his calling. He returned to Fredericton to attend UNB from where
he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1941. He went on to
spend his career with Diamond Construction where he found his true
His years with Diamond Construction were the best years of
his life. While working with Diamond he served as President of the New
Brunswick Road Builders Association and was also a member of the
Canadian Good Road Association.
As an avid sports fan he spent Sunday afternoons in the fall
watching the Patriots play football and in the summer his time was
taken up with the Blue Jays along with all the baseball
teams’ statistics. As a player, his sports of choice were
rugby and golf.
Our family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks for the kind
and compassionate care received from Dr. Katelyn Stymiest and the
Extra-Mural Nurses, especially Angie Hallett. We would also like to
thank the in home care workers Cathy Yerxa, Colleen MacPheerson and
Joyce Wilson which made it possible for him to remain at
Funeral arrangements are entrusted in the care of McAdams
Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton, NB. Donations can be made
to the Alzheimer’s Society of New Brunswick or a charity of
the donors choosing. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside
service will be held at Youngs Cove United Church Cemetery on Monday
July 1, 2019. His final resting place will be overlooking Grand Lake,
his favorite place in the world.
