Our dear Dad and devoted husband took his last breath on May 24th, at the age of 86, surrounded by his beloved wife, all his children, music, candles, prayers and tears in the most peaceful and beautiful setting at Berwick on the Lake in Nanaimo, BC.
Dad’s kind & gentle soul was set free from his battle with renal disease at last. Ray’s greatest love in life was for his family and his role modelling will live on forever in all of us. He will be deeply missed by his wife Madeleine of 63 years and their children Jan (Terry), Colette (Jack), Marc (Brenda) and Richard (Colleen) along with his 8 adoring grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He leaves to mourn 2 sisters, Priscilla, Dolores and 1 brother, Philip.
Ray was born and raised in Morinville, Alta, and resided there for 70 years. He took over the family dairy farm and worked tirelessly as a mixed farmer for 3 decades. In 1974 he switched gears completely and became a respected hotelier.
Ray and Madeleine moved to Vancouver Island in 2005. Anyone who knew Ray appreciated he was a true gentleman & highly ambitious. His true legacy, however, are his children and his grandchildren. He was very proud of them and worked so hard in life to so they could all find their way. Some of his happiest memories were the many years shared with his cherished family at the lake cabins.
Ray’s funeral will be at St Jean Baptiste church in Morinville on June 15th at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations many be made to the Health Equipment Loan Program at Red Cross, Ph-#250-382-2043
