Lloyd Edwin Ross passed away at home on Sunday, June 2, 2019, with his family by his side. Lloyd married his life-long friend, Violet (Cochrane) on September 5th, 1953, after growing up just down the road from each other. Lloyd and Violet raised their family of Valerie & Barry, Bonnie & Marvin, David & Ben, and Dan & Brian. Lloyd with thrilled to see his family continue to grow with his Grandchildren, Jennifer & Dan, Steve & Chevonne, Becky Lee & Aaron, Thomas/ T.J. & Emily, and Jessica & Jamey; as well as his Great Grandchildren Jordan, Sam, Ewan, Sela, Mary, and Madison.
Lloyd will be missed by his siblings Ann Cook, Donna Hiller, Joan & Allan Martelle and is predeceased by his parents and siblings George, Eva, and Patty, and in-laws Gary Cook, Roger Hiller, Cliff Williams, Marion & Harold Jamieson. Lloyd will be missed by his extended family, friends, and four-legged buddies.
A life filled with laughter, hard work and memories; Lloyd loved watching the fiddle contests in Shelborne, Tavistock and Blythe, the music of the fiddlers and the many polka dances where regular events for Lloyd and Violet during their relationship that spanned over 70 years.
Lloyd was a hard-working husband and father, taking on a variety of employment opportunities over his long career. Lloyd and his family owned and operated a gas station and restaurant before he returned to his work in construction. Involved in his community as the President and treasurer for the Thedford Optimist, Lloyd would have his regular meetings while Violet would prepare meals for the men during the discussions. Lloyd was proud of becoming Captain of the North Side with Dave Hayter, blowing out the channel at Port Franks, all while enjoying his love of woodworking and gardening along with his other hobbies of fishing and traveling to both the west and east coasts.
A visitation will take place on Thursday, June 6, 2019, from 6pm-8pm at Gilpin Funeral Chapel, 97 Victoria Street in Thedford, followed by a service on Friday, June 7, at 1 pm at the United Church in Thedford with a visitation 1 hour prior. Rev. Doug Wright officiating. Interment to take place at the Pinehill Cemetery.
