Jean Kathleen “Kay” McRae (nee Cornford)
Kay McRae of Ayr passed away peacefully at her home, Kirkwood Residences, Ayr, on Monday, June 3, 2019 in her 88th year. Cherished wife of the late Ian McRae (2002); Loving mother of Liz Michiels (Joe), Peter McRae (Kim), Anne Locke (Curtis) and Jamie McRae (Christina); Wonderful Grandmother to her 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Sadly missed by her brother John Cornford and brother-in-law Reg Walker and extended family. Kay is predeceased by her parents Harold and Elsie Cornford (nee Kendall), her sister Marian Walker and her granddaughter Katie. Kay was a lifetime resident of Ayr, an active and valued member of her community, working and participating in several organizations, and will be sadly missed by the many co-workers and friends she made over the years. Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Ayr Chapel, Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, 183 Northumberland St., Ayr, on Friday June 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The service celebrating Kay’s life will take place at Knox United Church, 92 Northumberland St. Ayr, on Saturday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers the family would request donations to Ayr and District Citizens Assc.
