Barbara Patricia Parsons Munves died suddenly at Whisperwood Villa
last Saturday evening, she had lived there following the death of Jim
Munves, her husband of 45 years, last September. Jim and Barbara were
inseparable, they did almost everything together and while it was
getting harder for both of them as they dealt with aging, Jim’s
health and Barbara’s increasing dementia, Jim was her rock, her
shelter and her home. With Jim gone it was easy to see that much of
her interest in life had also left. In better days, Barbara was a
stalwart member of the Island Peace Committee, a volunteer at the
Humane Society, a published author and an avid singer in both the
Confederation Singers and Saint Paul’s Anglican Church choir.
She was an animal lover, a vegetarian, and a staunch environmentalist.
Jim and Barbara gave generously to many Prince Edward Island
charities. Many people will also remember the battle that Jim fought
to bring Barbara home after she had been committed to a dementia unit
in early 2018. They had some five months at home together ably
supported by care-givers before Jim died and Barbara was once again in
a nursing home. Barbara died peacefully and quickly, after a good day.
She will be mourned by her Charlottetown friends and her
step-daughters: Katherine Pearlman, Emily Chadbourne, and Margaret
Munves. There will be no service, friends can remember Barbara by
giving a donation to the Humane Society, taking a walk on the beach or
in the woods, eating less meat and refusing to wear fur.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Barbara Munves 19302019..
