Arthur Joseph Alderic Joey LeBlanc Jr January 21 1946 June 28 2019 (age 73)

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Arthur Joseph Alderic “Joey” LeBlanc Jr. announce his passing, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, June 28, 2019. He was born in Saint John on January 21, 1946, the first born son of the late Theresa “Tessie” (Monteith) and Arthur Joseph Alyre “Blackie” LeBlanc.
In his early youth Joey joined the Army Cadets and later moved on to the Reserves. He also began working at a very young age holding various positions. He started as a newspaper carrier, and had many customers throughout the North End around Fort Howe Hill and area for a few years. His next position was on the old Princess Helene Ferry, going back and forth to Digby, NS. Later he secured a position as stock boy at Calps Ltd. and worked for a few years there. Then he began what was a long running career as a Burner Service man alongside his father “Blackie” at Parker D. Mitchell’s.Eventually Joey and his father joined forces and opened their own Burner Service Business, called A.& J. Burner Service Ltd. which lasted for well over a decade. He was known to be fussy and particular about his work which earned him good ratings. He was also a man that liked to have fun and was known as a bit of an agitator. He loved to joke and laugh and keep things very light hearted. He was an avid bowler locally and provincially, and he loved the competition end of it. This led to his long time job of close to 30 years at Bowl-More Lanes at Haymarket Square. He left a lasting impression of family on his children. The family would go on many road trips and camping trips over the early years which covered along the eastern seaboard of Canada and the states, and even Kentucky, Indiana, Cincinnati, Niagara Falls and going home via Montreal and the Maritimes. They kids kind of got an early history lesson of various places. When he moved to Bloomfield he worked as a Burner Serviceman again for Hazen Cook and Cook’s fuel and his last employment was with Walmart in Sus as Night shift custodian before a well deserved retirement. At his home in Bloomfield he enjoyed many a weekend with his grandchildren and family in his pool, and shared his garden crops of vegetable he grew himself. He was a generous and kind hearted man who thought of everyone else over himself. His loyalty, generosity and kindness to his family and friends will never be forgotten, just always remembered.
He is survived by his wife Mary Crilley, his five children, Shirley Mitchell (Jerry), Mary LeBlanc (Rick), Amy-Jo Melanson (Dale), Timothy (Karen) LeBlanc and Leslie LeBlanc; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Alicia, Kyle, Tia, Candice, Shyla, Darren and Corey; brothers, Paul (Dawn) and Roger (Betty), former sister-in-law Donna LeBlanc as well as aunt Gracie Roy and uncle Paul LeBlanc, along with several cousins and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-8pm. A funeral liturgy celebrating Joey’s Life will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 3 at 2pm. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations in Joey’s memory to the SPCA or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.
