Ursula von Waldow
1922-2019
Ursula Maria v. Waldow (nee v.
Rudno), age 97 of Cambridge-Narrows, passed away with family
at her side on Saturday, May 4, 2019.
Ursula is predeceased by her
husband of 52 years, Achatz v. Waldow. She is survived by her children
Gabriele Bentley (Alan) of Charlottetown, PEI; Joaquin (Ines
Hernandez) of Moncton, NB; Ines (Doug Richardson) of
Cambridge-Narrows, NB; stepdaughter Marietta (Franz Godsam) of
Boehringen, Germany; and stepson Joerg (Jane) of Corn Hill, NB. She
will be lovingly missed by 14 grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren.
Our mother was born in Starkow,
Germany on January 25, 1922. She lived in a number of locations in
Germany as a result of displacement during the war years. She and
Achatz were married in Argentina in 1955. They immigrated to
Canada in 1958 and soon thereafter purchased their beloved farm in
Cambridge-Narrows, NB. Like many of her generation, she
faced hardships which she met head-on. Perseverance was her strength
in all aspects of her life. Our mother was a dedicated farmer, a
passionate gardener, a baker of the best cakes always served with
whipped cream, which she invited the world to come and enjoy no matter
how busy; she was tireless in her life and instilled this virtue in
her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The story of her
life– which could fill a mini-series — will be carried forward by
us, her family.
We want to express our sincere
appreciation to the dedicated health care workers at Thomas Hall,
Parkland Shannex in Fredericton, along with the outside caregivers who
provided our mother with love and respect.
At our mother’s request,
there will be no visitation or funeral. Memorials may be made to a
charity of your choice. The family will have a Celebration
of her amazing life at her beloved farm in late July to which all who
knew her are invited.
