Robert « Bob » Taylor
1950-2019
It is with both joys, for having known him, and with sadness
for having to let him go, that the family of Robert « Bob »
Taylor shares the news of his passing. Bob passed away peacefully on
May 10th, 2019 surrounded by his loving
family.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Darlene. Born,
January 30th, 1950, to Margaret and Bill

loved playing with his brothers and sisters, was a member of the
Marian Boy Choir. He made the Provincial Junior Golf Team and the

Bull Dogs. He is survived by his sister Diane (Bob
Cunningham), Sandra (Lorne Wall), and Peter (Carolyn Taylor) and many
nieces and nephews, predeceased by his mom and dad and his two
brothers Michael and Joseph.
Bob received his Mechanical Drafting Diploma from Port
Hawksbury Community College. From there moved to Halifax to work as
Manager at The Metropolitan Retail Store on Quinpool Road. He moved on
to become an employee of Cody Food Equipment and worked in commercial
kitchen design and sales. His worked took him to Saint John, then to
Truro where he met Darlene. They were married in 1978 and
moved to Sydney, Cape Breton where they welcomed their first
child. At Cody, Bob was awarded for Top Sales Achievement in
Canada. Bob and Darlene then moved to Moncton and continued to grow
their family. He then became involved with Jessome Food Equipment as
Vice President of Sales. In 1993, he became involved in the
bar & hospitality industry where he eventually became the
owner/operator of his legacy, Captain Dan’s Bar &
Grill, The Sandbar on the Pointe du Chêne Wharf and Five
Bridges Bar & Grill.
Bob loved his children and was extremely proud of them,
Jennifer (Giles Oland), Suzanne (Robert Dawe), and Robert (Tonya
Wilson). Bob « Papa » was so proud to eventually
become a grandfather and held his grandchildren close to his heart and
enjoyed spending time with them and making them laugh. His three
precious little granddaughters Charleigh, Sadie, and Georgia were
blessed to have known this legend and know they were loved
unconditionally.
In addition to family, Bob valued and actively maintained
many life long friendships. He was always the life of the
party; everyone always gravitated to his fantastic smile, energy and
story telling. Loved by many, Bob was an extremely hard
worker and we are so very proud of all his accomplishments. Bob loved
to teach and help anyone that needed advice or support, he was always
interested in the well -being of his family, friends and employees.
Bob was actively involved in politics, he cared about change and
making things better for New Brunswick. Anything he could do
to help, he would, he dedicated many conversations and evenings to
supporting the local community and working hard at making a difference
for his children and grandchildren. Bob and Darlene spent
many years in Florida enjoying the sun and friends. In 2018
they bought a condo at Clearwater Beach, where Bob spent many months
this year. He loved it there, enjoying the beautiful weather
and time to reflect with friends. He spent many days sitting
at the « Liars » table and making everyone laugh. He was a
member of United Commercial Travellers, The Knight Riders Motorcycle
Group, a very good golfer and loved watching hockey and enjoying walks
in Cap Brule with their dog Frankie. Bob knew how to live life and
knew more to what life was about then most. He taught his
family to think smart, work hard and strive to be a great
person! To not sweat the small things and in life things do
get better, one of his famous line was « It is what it
is ».
Bob was a legend, larger the life, Bob will leave an empty
space in many people’s lives now that he’s gone.
His legacy will live on in all of us, and we’re all so lucky
to have known and spent time with him.
