July 1,1959 – May 14, 2019
The family of Randy McLay is heartbroken to announce his passing on May 14, 2019, in Edmonton.
He was predeceased by his Mom and Dad, Dorothy and Gilbert “Gib” McLay, his brother Glenn, and his Grandparents Elizabeth and Eric Lavergne, Laura and Bert McLay, Peter and Minn Blackburn and many more family members. Randy is survived by his five sisters, Georgette (Steve), Denise (Bill) Lori, Laura, Brenda (Darryl), his brother Allan, and many relatives in our large family.
Randy was the kind of man who would not hesitate to help his family or his numerous lifelong buddies in Kenora. Randy made many new friends in Edmonton and for those of you who are contacting the family, and offering your help, we are truly thankful. After we lost our brother Glenn, Randy became fiercely protective of our family. Kenora was always “home” to Randy and he would travel great distances to be present for our Mothers’ birthdays and other family celebrations. No one was ever bored, especially his nieces and nephews, when “Uncle Randy” was around. His laughter was contagious! He loved his sister’s cooking and Steve’s fish. He usually went back to Edmonton a few pounds heavier and with a loving care package made by his sister Georgette. Many of his best times were spent playing darts with his Dad Gib and his lifelong buddies in Kenora. You know who you are. Randy excelled at arm wrestling, fishing, fixing and selling cars and showing love for his family. Some of the most gratifying years of Randy’s life were when he worked for the C.P.R, B.C. Rail and in the oil fields. He was a proud member of Niisaachwewan Anishinabe Nation and The Legion.
Our family had planned to celebrate his 60 birthday in July. Instead we will gather in July for his celebration of life in Kenora, a time, place and date yet to be determined.
“REST EASY NOW LITTLE BROTHER. YOU ARE LOVED AND WE WILL MISS YOU TERRIBLY. YOUR FAMILY”
