Larry Hanna, beloved husband of Francoise Hanna of Saskatoon, passed away at Royal University Hospital on May 12, 2019. He was loving father to Stephanie Hanna (Gregory Siemens) of La Crosse, Wisconsin. He will also be dearly missed by his grandson Bryant Hanna and his mom Shannon Freeman from Sartell, Minnesota. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sister and nieces and nephews from the Montreal area. He was predeceased by his son, Robert Hanna; his brother, Emile Hanna; and his parents.
Larry was born in Montreal to parents who immigrated to Canada from Lebanon. He was a very smart young man who quickly mastered English as well as French when he attended Stanstead College. In 1955 he graduated from McGill University with a degree in Chemical Engineering and went to work for Aluminum Company of Canada Ltd. in Arvida, Quebec.
In 1960 he married his best friend, Francoise Julien. They settled into a wonderful life together working and raising 2 children who are their pride and joy. He also worked at Venchem and Allied Chemical in Quebec. Larry and Francoise and family could not pass up the opportunity to work and live in Saskatoon in 1981. Larry worked at Saskatoon Chemicals for 13 years, retiring in 1994.
Larry was also passionate about singing. His beautiful bass voice graced many as he sang with the Saskatoon Chimo Chordsmen and with St. Anne’s 11 o’clock Choir. Larry was a down to earth individual who loved to talk to folks at any time about any topic. His sense of humour, smile and conversation will be missed by many and remembered by all.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Larry’s memory to a charity of your choice. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 217 Lenore Drive, Saskatoon.
