Obituary for
Graham Jackson Watts
Graham Jackson Watts
Peacefully passed away at his home after spending a lovely day looking at slides surrounded by his family on May 28, 2019 at the age of 91. Beloved husband of 62 years to Claire (nee Cowling). Loving father of Dave (Vannina), Gordon, and Catharine (Eric). Adored Grandpa to Yamandú, Kyria, Graeme, Charlotte and Nathaniel. He is survived by his twin brother Kenneth (Ena). Predeceased by his brother Lang, and sisters Joan and Ruth. Graham was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was an active member of First United Church for many years where he developed a great number of friendships.
Graham was an avid photographer and took many beautiful pictures which his family will cherish. This skill is all the more impressive as he lost his left eye at the age of 16 in an industrial accident. Being an optimistic and positive person he never allowed things like being blind in one eye stop him from achieving his goals and taking on new challenges.
A hard working man, Graham owned three gas stations, delivered mail; he was also a farmer, and a dedicated caretaker at First United Church; not necessarily all at the same time.
Graham proudly worked for over 25 years at St. Lawrence Starch, starting out in the yard crew and eventually working his way up to the position of Safety Supervisor. He worked at the “Starch Works” until it closed its doors in the early 1990’s.
For many years Graham worked shift work so he was able to volunteer at his children’s school on his days off. He often attended field trips and play days. We aren’t sure who enjoyed these more, Graham or the children. Later, when he retired and was a grandfather he continued to volunteer but this time in his grandchildren’s schools.
A special thanks to Dr. Ruban, his cardiologist for more than two decades, and Dr. Khanna his family physician who always gave him impeccable care.
Cremation to take place.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 8 at 11:00 am at Christ First United Church, Port Credit campus, 151 Lakeshore Road W. followed by light refreshments.
