Ersi Andreou Fellows
1929-2019
Ersi (Andreou) Fellows (1929 ~ 2019) passed away peacefully
on Monday May 20th at the age of 90, following a short
illness. Ersi was born in Kalamata Greece on March 11th 1929 to
parents Evangelou and Irini Andreou.
Ersi was worldly, intelligent, headstrong and kind. At one
point in her life Ersi was fluent in five European languages and
worked for the Greek Embassy in Smyrna Turkey.She met Edward (Ted)
Fellows in the mid 1960’s while she worked for the Greek
government in Athens as an interpreter.Ersi was assigned to assist and
translate for Ted who was working for CIDA. They were
married in Halifax, Nova Scotia in December 1967 and on May
20th 1969, Ersi officially became a citizen of
Canada.
Ersi was well known and admired amongst
Fredericton’s Greek community. A superb cook – her lamb
roast and baked lemon potatoes where second to none – for many years
she and Ted hosted special gatherings at their home in Sunshine
Gardens, often inviting Greek students studying at the University of
New Brunswick to enjoy a traditional home-cooked Greek meal. Also,
Mrs. Fellows was an avid supporter and volunteered many years at the
Fredericton Community Kitchen.
During their years together Ersi and Ted travelled widely;
while based in Canada, Ersi maintained lifelong homes in both Athens
and in Fredericton. She frequently went back to Greece to visit family
and friends in Athens and Kalamata.
A great walker, Ersi could often be spotted in Fredericton
walking from her downtown residence to the Fredericton Rural Cemetery
on Woodstock Rd to visit Ted’s and her Mother’s
graves. Ersi was predeceased by her beloved brother Peter and his wife
Ann (of Scotland).
Ersi is survived by several Greek Cousins and, in Canada, by
David Fellows (Joann) and Peter Fellows (Annette Sercerchi), her
grandson Mike Fellows and granddaughters Lesley Fellows (Bethany
Foster), Jennifer Fellows and Erin Fellows (Tim
Schriver).
Please join us in celebrating Ersi’s life with a
Greek Orthodox service on Saturday Morning May 25th at 10am
at St. Anne’s Chapel, Christ Church (Parish) Church, 245
Westmorland St., Fredericton. Burial immediately following
service.

Kitchen or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
