NUESCA, Domingo Ocastillon
It is with great sadness that the family of Domingo Ocastillon Nuesca announces his passing on May 1 after a lengthy illness at the age of 80. Domingo passed away with his loving family by his side. Beloved husband of Erlinda Merza for 53 years. Loving father of Diane (Chris) and Debbie (Casey). Cherished Lolo of Mariko, Matthew and Andrew. Beloved brother of Felimon, Lucrecia, and Quiteria. Predeceased by his brothers Cipriano and Mauro, and parents Timoteo and Carmen Nuesca. Will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends in Canada, the United States and the Philippines.
After emigrating to Canada in 1963 to study his Masters in Chemical Engineering at the University of Toronto, Domingo was Head Chemist at United Steel & Smelting in Hamilton where he worked for over 25 years. Retirement allowed him to play 18 holes of golf every day, with a total of three holes in one. Dad loved watching hockey and baseball, especially when his apo played. Domingo was an active member of the Hamilton Filipino Senior Community.
Sincere thanks to Dr. Quinn, Father Bill and the emergency room staff at St. Joseph’s Hamilton for their care and compassion, so we could be together during his final hours. Special thank you to the Hamilton LHIN Palliative Care Team who helped us bring Dad home so he could spend time with all of us during his final weeks.
Visitation will be at Dodsworth and Brown Funeral Home, 378 Wilson St E Ancaster, on Monday May 6 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Rosary at 3 pm. Funeral mass will be on Tuesday May 7 at 10 am at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, 11 Wilson St W Ancaster. A private family internment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation are greatly appreciated.
Rest in peace Dad in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ.
