David Ross Kennedy
1951-2019
It is with broken hearts, but gratitude for a lifetime of
memories, that the family of David Ross Kennedy announces his peaceful
passing on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at his home in Beardsley, NB
surrounded by his loved ones.
David was born in Woodstock, NB on July 19, 1951 and raised
on the family farm in Kirkland, NB. Those early roots ran
deep for David and eventually brought him back as a frequent resident
at his Camp on Slater Road. After meeting his
« Lovey » and starting his family, David worked as a heavy
equipment operator, school bus driver and eventually settled into a
career on the highway driving transport. David was a family
man and it was his love for his family that brought him off the road
to embark on a career as a correctional officer at the Woodstock
Provincial Jail. After the jail closure the lure of the
highway took him back for the rest of his working days.
David loved traveling, politics, his hunting camp, crib, a
good scotch and his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs but his greatest loves
were his wife and family. Friend to anyone in need, dedicated
employee, helpful neighbor, loving uncle and brother….he wore
many hats (one of which was no doubt a Maple Leaf’s
one!). But his favorite hat to wear was that of father,
grandfather and husband. He was very proud of his children and
grandchildren and nothing brought a bigger smile to his face then to
spend time with the kids.
David is survived by his loving wife and best friend Polly,
daughter Carla (Peter), son Chris (Sarah), his beloved grandchildren
Zachary, Eden, Harper and Cohen, sisters Louise Billings and Susan
Kennedy, brother Bruce Kennedy (Alice), special friend Kenny-Jean
Brennan, many extended family and friends and his special fur baby
Tia.
He was pre-deceased by his parents John and Gladys Kennedy
and brothers, Henry Kennedy and Ronald Kennedy.
Arrangements are under the care of Carleton Funeral Home
& Crematorium, Jacksonville, NB but at David’s request there
will be no funeral or visitation. However, with David’s
Blessing there will be a Celebration of Life on Wednesday May 15, 2019
at the Woodstock Elks Club, 123 Connell
Street from 5-8 pm with word of remembrance to be given at
6pm.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the River
Valley Cancer Support Group.
The family wish to thank everyone for their love and support
of both David and his family during his courageous battle.
He was a warrior until the end and will be missed by all.
