Passed away, peacefully at the Delhi Long Term Care Residence on May 27, 2019, Cora Grace (Codling) Smoke, formerly of Langton in her 93rd year. Cora was a proud long-time member of both the Langton Baptist Church and the Langton Women’s Institute and she was proud of authoring the “Tweedsmuir History of North Walsingham.” Cora farmed tobacco until 1972 alongside her loving husband of 63 years, Reginald Earl Smoke (predeceased Nov. 24, 2008). Later she worked for the Haldimand-Norfolk Region Planning Dept., where she primarily assisted with land severances. Born in Simcoe to the late Joseph Codling and Harriet (Smith) Codling. Cora is survived by her loving son Ron Smoke and his wife Donna, of Langton. Also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her siblings: Gordon, Rosie, Pearl, Russell, Hazel, Robert, Erie, and Lloyd. “Cora was the last Codling of her generation.”
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a time of visitation on Thursday, May 30th, 2019 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc. Chapel, 40 Queen Street, Langton (519)842-4238. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, by Rev. Allan Wilson of Langton Baptist Church. Inurnment follows in the Langton Baptist Cemetery. Memorial donations to the “Langton Baptist Church” or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
