C.H. ( Bud )’s Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Carleton Holland (Bud) Stewart announces his passing on Monday, May 20th, 2019 at the Upper River Valley Hospital. Born on April 24th, 1929 in Woodstock, NB to the late Cecil and Jean (Tilley) Stewart.
He cherished his family, devoted himself to his community, he enjoyed summers on Clubhouse Island at Skiff Lake, where he protected the loons and quality of the lake. Bud excelled in sports, with his greatest achievement being Captain of the 1946 Dominion Juvenile Basketball Champions and finally being Canada’s most loyal St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan.
Bud graduated from Woodstock High School and went on to complete a business program at vocational school. He then would spend over 50 years in the hardware business. Along with his father Cecil and brother Don, they made Stewart and Stewart Home Hardware an anchor in downtown Woodstock, being one of the first to bring Home Hardware to the east coast.
Bud is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Dolores (Dodie) (Mercer) Stewart; sons Gary and Mark (Dodi); grandchildren Tim (Laura), Nick, Chris (Ashley), Katie (Al), Maggie (Andre), and Joanna; great grandchild Oscar; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his daughter Janet Harrison, brother Don Stewart and sister Dorothy (Babe) Bland.
Visitation will be held at the Scott Funeral Home, Woodstock, NB on Friday May 31, 2019 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
Funeral will be on June 1, 2019 at 2 pm from the Saint James United Church, Woodstock, NB.
