A precious soul has left this world.
Our lasting memories of our beloved mother are simple: a hard working,
passionate figure of strength who never waned in her support or love
for her family and who soldiered on, even when times were tough.
Barbara, also lovingly known as Barbie to many, completed her earthly
journey in the early morning hours of Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Dr.
Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. She was surrounded by the presence
and love of her devoted
family.
Born in Saint John, NB on October 20,
1938, she was the daughter of the late Urban and Dora (Griffin)
Shannon. Barbara was a great woman of faith and she will be dearly
missed by the Faith Community especially at Smythe Street Church,
Fredericton. Many will remember her infectious laugh and her ability
to make any heart smile big. Barbara endeared herself to so many
people especially when she worked as a Custodial Worker at the NB
Legislature.
Mom, your memory will live on in all
our hearts forever. Missed already by daughters, Cindy Compagnon
(Gary), Pamela Fay (Claude), Elgina Duffy and Theresa Goodine
(Ronnie); also, by sons Alvin and Ernest Duffy. Barbara was a
cherished « Nanny » to her 11 grandchildren and 2
great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews,
cousins and a host of dear friends and extended
family.
Barbara was the last surviving member
of her immediate family. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased
by her husband, Alvin H. L. Duffy Sr.; sons, Michael « Todd »
Duffy and Steven W. Duffy as well as several
siblings.
A
service celebrating the life of Barbara Duffy will be held from
Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel, 540 Woodstock Road,
Fredericton on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Wayne
Flowers officiating. Friends may visit and express condolences to the
family one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Saint
John, NB
later.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Barbara A Duffy 19382019..
