Obituary for
Adolf (Dolf) Hantelmann
On Thursday, May 16, 2019, Adolf (Dolf) Hantelmann passed away peacefully at the age of 96 years. He lived a long and interesting life. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Antonia (Toni); his son, Rene (Linda); daughter, Marijke (Wayne); stepsons, Tony (Cheryl) and Paul (Dana). He also leaves five grandchildren, Chad, Natasja, Tysen, Jos and Cody; and step-grandchildren, Michaela and Martin; as well as ten great-grandchildren. Dolf was predeceased by his first wife, Remi; his sister, Sara; and youngest brother, Frits. He is survived by one brother, Jan, in Holland. Dolf was born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and emigrated to Canada in 1963 with his family, settling in Edmonton. Dolf eventually established a successful business as a piano tuner in Edmonton and continued to enjoy tuning part-time for the Conservatory of Music at MacEwan University until he was 95 years old! His love for classical music was passed on to many of his family. He enjoyed 25 years of volunteering for CKER, 101.7FM, as a radio announcer for the Dutch Saturday morning popular radio show, it’s motto “Stay in touch with the Dutch”. Never lost for words, it was the perfect job. With his sense of humour and zest for life he connected with many people through his work, volunteering and developed life-long friendships. Dolf loved to travel and spent many happy winters in Scottsdale with Toni. Dolf enjoyed entertaining friends, sharing jokes, and spending time with his family. He was proud of the accomplishments of his grandchildren.
A special thank you to Dolf’s long time friends for their their love, friendship and help they gave our dad and Toni in the past year. Also a big thank you to the caregivers who made it possible for our dad to stay in his home. We will miss him.
A Celebration of Life will take place Wednesday, May 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Dolf’s memory to a medical charity of your choice.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Adolf Dolf
