Phyllis Elaine Dawson, in her 96th year, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Spruce Lodge. Born in Niagara Falls, New York the only child of Francis and Gertrude (McKee) Ressler. Predeceased by her husband Robert Dawson, September 24, 2010, whom she married in Niagara Falls in 1945. Proud mother of Pat Turnbull, Karen Zwakenberg (Terry Carroll) and Ian Dawson. Loving grandmother of Kirsten (Rob Gilchrist), Lauren (Steve Martin), Adam Zwakenberg, Emily (Crystal Spicer) and her great-grandchildren Ben and Abby Gilchrist, Olivia and Nathan Martin and her many nieces and nephews. Phyllis graduated as a registered nurse from Niagara Falls General Hospital in 1945. She was employed by Stratford General Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1989. Her volunteer experience encompassed the Anglican Church Woman of St. James Church, Perth County Children’s Aid Society, Stratford & District Community Services Council, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and more than forty years of service with the Auxiliary Association of Stratford General Hospital. At Phyllis’s request, there will be no funeral home visitation. A family graveside service will be held with interment in Avondale Cemetery.
