Kathleen “MARIE” Ellis
(nee Reed)
of Drayton, passed away peacefully, after 92 well-lived years, surrounded by the love of family, on Monday December 24, 2018. Beloved wife and life partner of Carl for 74 years. Loving mother of Ron and Barb Ellis, Ray and Shirley Ellis, June and David Ebertt and Larry and Louise Ellis. Cherished Grandmother of Michael (Lara), Sherri (Brian), Deanne (Mike), Kirk (Teri), Mark (Erin), Shelley (Curtis), Shawn, Carly and Kyle. Great Grandmother of MacKenzie, Benjamin, Brody, Drew, Ryder, Jett, Finn, Porter, Ernie, Katelyn, Cheylyn and Levy. Marie began honing her mothering skills early in life as the 2nd oldest of six siblings, Vera (deceased 2002) Ronald, Glenn, Lorne, Iona and Barry. She will be fondly remembered by her siblings, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Howard and Marjorie (Hysert) Reed.
Marie will be remembered by many for her generous spirit. She was admired for her determination, resiliency and work effort in everything she did as she partnered with her husband Carl on numerous adventures in life, including the opening of two mechanic shops, operating a pool hall and snack bar and a bus company while raising their four children. Marie was a giving Mother, Wife, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and we are fortunate for every day we had her in our lives. We are so grateful for the community of Drayton that surrounded Marie with the greatest respect throughout her 92 years.
To honour Marie’s wishes cremation has taken place.
The family will receive friends at the Heritage Funeral Home, Drayton on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 .
A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held in Drayton United Church, Drayton on Saturday December 29, 2018 at 11:00.a.m. Interment Drayton Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy donations to the Palmerston Hospital Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
