We regret to announce the death of Elizabeth (Liz) Margaret Sampson, 94 of the Richmond Villa St. Peter’s and formerly of Grand Greve, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 11, 2019.
Born in Halifax on November 27, 1924 to the Late: Charlie and Jessie Mountain. She was the last surviving member of her family of 21 siblings.
Liz loved and appreciated her family. She was an independent person who used her quick wit and sence of humour to speak her mind and to entertain those around her. She was generous with her time and talants. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting and other craft’s. Liz was a caring babysitter who took pride and pleasure in looking after other’s. They in turn valued her spunky attitude. She will be greatly missed.
Liz is survived by: her son Joseph (Lil) Winnipeg, daughters: Gail (Alec) Martell, Grand Greve, N.S. Diana (Leo) Sampson of Sampsonville, N.S. many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Bedsides her parents, Liz was predeceased by her First husband, Russell J.Cotie of Grand Greve, and her second husband Gilbert C Sampson of River Bourgeious. N.S. grandson Enos Sampson of Sampsonville.
Cremation has taken place. There is no visitation by request. A graveside service will be at Holy Guardian Angel Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to thank the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney and The staff of the Richmond Villa in St. Peter’s for all their care and compassion they showed Liz in her time with them. Memorial donations may be made to the Richmond Villa in St. Peter’s.
Arrangements are the Care and Direction of Green’s Funeral Home, 507 Bernard St. Port Hawkesbury.
