Ralph Blaise Murphy, age 63 passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney on Sunday, March 24, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glace Bay on October 1, 1955, he was the son of the late Michael and Brenda (MacDonald) Murphy.
He grew up in Reserve Mines and proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces from March, 1973 to May, 1998.
Blaise married the love of his life, Theresa on October 19, 1973. They enjoyed raising their children together, travelling the world and spending time with their family and friends. Blaise will be remembered for his love of family, music, telling stories and his special gift in bringing people together.
Surviving are his loving wife, Theresa, his children, Dawn (Jason) Sheppard and son, Skip; granddaughters, Brianna and Jade.
Also surviving are his sibling, Theresa Slade, Marybelle (Darrell) Murrant, Mike (Marie), John (Rose), Lonnie (Danette), Brenda Campbell, Millie (Eric), Anthony, Noele, Colleen, many nieces and nephews and his mother in law, Pat Nash, whom he adored.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay.
The family will have a luncheon at the family home on Wednesday, March 27 from noon until 2 p.m., all are welcome.
The Murphy family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at the Cancer Clinic and Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their loving compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Canadian Cancer Association or Palliative Care.
