Elizabeth was born in Rochester, Minnesota the second of four children and was predeceased by her older sister and two younger brothers. She is survived by her six children and their families.
She spent her early life in Rochester and got her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Minnesota. She taught in New York city at the same time as her sister Barb was living there and loved the experience. Barb and Elizabeth would remain lifelong friends and confidants. She met Donald Brandt through an introduction from her brother, Rob. They married in 1949 and moved to Edmonton where they lived the ultimate »adventure » wooden sidewalks and all. They had a full life – complete with six children, deep and lifelong friendships and a succession of dogs, horses and grandchildren.
Elizabeth was the consummate hostess, welcoming both family and friends with open arms. There were many legendary dinners (and pool) parties, countless perfect roast beef and duck dinners and world famous chocolate chip cookies. Elizabeth loved being surrounded by her family. Her gardens and balconies were a passion and enjoyed by many.
Her strong Catholic faith supported and gave her strength throughout her 94 years. Our mother was generous not only to her immediate family and close friends but to many causes and charities. She was actively involved organizing the papal visit of Pope John Paul II, hosting the Guatemalan team for the Commonwealth Games and being a staunch member of the of Junior League of Edmonton and many more. “Liz” loved travel, bridge, reading, gardening and golf. She spent countless hours cheering for her children and grandchildren at sporting events and performances.
Mom, you will be missed and in our hearts forever
