Obituary of Kenneth A. C. Scott
Kenneth A.C. Scott, B.A., CD, was born on July 15, 1924 in Murree India (as it then was). He died surrounded by his loving children and grandchildren on March 20, 2019. He spent his early childhood in England where he was educated at Elmhurst and Repton. He moved to Canada in 1940 as an evacuee and he attended Trinity College School. After graduation in 1943, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy, in which he proudly served until 1946, before attending McGill University, from which he graduated in 1951.
He married in 1952, and he and his wife Caroyl had four children, Nancy (Gil), Michael (Arden), Susan (Brian), and Jamie. He was a dedicated father who avidly supported his family’s extra-curricular activities, endless nature walks, cottage and camping life. He and his family attended St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, where he served two terms as Rector’s Warden. In his professional life, he was the Director of Sales Promotion and Public Relations at Dominion Life’s Kitchener offices until his retirement in 1987.
Ken moved to Port Hope in 1997, where, as a naval veteran of WWII, he was very active in Navy League and Sea Cadet affairs and was chairman of the Navy Centennial Committee for Northumberland. During his retirement, he travelled extensively and enjoyed many good rounds of golf and lively lunches with two groups of retired businessmen, ROMEOs and the Gentleman’s club. Ken enjoyed an active social life, and was a keen supporter of local cultural events, the Probus Club, and various charities. He also served as an Honourable Trustee for Trinity College School, which awarded him the Colin T. Brown Leadership medal in 2017.
He will be lovingly missed by his children, and his cherished grandchildren Terri (Michael), Sandra (Shane), Jennifer (Ben), Cameron, and Phaedra.
Ken relocated to Goderich, Ontario in 2017 to be closer to his family.
Cremation has taken place and a family graveside service will be held in the Veteran’s section of the Union Cemetery in Port Hope. Memorial tributes, if desired, may be sent to the Scholarship Fund, Trinity College School to the attention of the Advancement Office, or the Northumberland Branch of the Navy League (PO Box 232, Port Hope, Ontario L1A 3W3).
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Kenneth A C
