Edith Leona Reid
1925-2019
The family of Edith Leona Reid announces her passing on
Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Mountainside Lodge in Fredericton, NB.
Born in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late E. Leslie
and F. Leona (Tracy) MacFarland.
Edith attended UNB and graduated in 1946 with a Bachelor of
Science. Upon marrying her late husband, Major (ret.) James M. Reid,
Edith moved multiple times across Canada. She attained a Bachelor of
Education in 1971 from the University of Manitoba. Upon their
retirement, Edith taught art and industrial drafting for several years
in Fredericton. She loved her cats and spending her summers at her
cottage on Grand Lake.
Edith is survived by a son Michael Atkinson (Mary Lee) of
Fredericton, NB; daughters Leslie Reid (Jennifer) of Fredericton, NB,
Karen Davidge (Brock) of Keswick, NB, Shonn Martin (Kim) of Waterloo,
ON and Kim Cameron (Ian) of Scarborough, England; several
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Edith was predeceased by her
husband James Reid, daughter Kate Reid and a brother Tracy
MacFarlane.
A memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Interment
will be in the Scotchtown Cemetery in the spring. Donations in
Edith’s memory can be made to the charity of the
donor’s choice.
