Obituary of Dawn Allyson Balser
55, Princedale, Annapolis County, passed away on March 13, 2019 at the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, after a brief illness.
Dawn was born in Plymouth, New Hampshire to Vernon and Lois (Wilkinson) King on May 19, 1963 and moved to Nova Scotia in 1972. She attended the Annapolis West Education Centre in Annapolis Royal, returning in 1996 to complete her Grade 12. She worked for many years at the Digby Pines Hotel and most recently as assistant manager of a convenience store in Spryfield. Dawn was a warm, loving, kind and generous daughter, mother, grandmother and the same to all of those that she called friend. She was an avid reader, a scrabble aficionado, and a collector of Star Wars and Coca-Cola memorabilia.
She is survived by daughters, Katina Finigan, Spryfield, Klarissa (Alan Fredericks), Princedale and Melissa Pothier, Halifax; sister, Shannon Sarty, Digby; half-brother, Chris Jenkins, Ashmore; mother, Lois Jenkins, Annapolis Royal; grandchildren, Parker, Rylee and Emma, Princedale; nieces, Tamara Robicheau, Ashmore and Amber Sarty, Digby; nephew, Nicholas Sarty, Wilmot; and her feline friends, Sadie and Phoenix. She was preceded in death by her father, Vernon King. Dawn was previously married to Steven Finigan, Moncton, NB and Joe Balser, Lansdowne, Digby Co.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Cornish and the nurses at the ICU at the Valley Regional Hospital for their superb care. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. There will be a private family gathering at a later date.
