Gerald Melvin Warren
Ingonish
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Gerald Warren, at home, on Sunday, March 24, 2019, with his family at his side.
Born in Halifax on July 10, 1932, he was the son of the late Roy and Winnifred Warren. Gerald loved his family dearly and we spent lots of time celebrating birthdays, father’s days and anniversaries.
Beside his family, two of his greatest loves were the fiddle and watching the Blue Jays, whether they won or lost.
Gerald worked for Cape Breton Highlands National Park for 35 years until his retirement in 1998.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce (Ashford); sons Stephen (Faye), Philip (Alison) and daughter Debbie (William); grandchildren Adam, Rachael, Ashley, Mackenzie, and Liam; and great granddaughter Eliza. Gerald is also survived by his sister Virginia (Russ) Dodd and many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
Besides his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his sister Kaye, his brothers Dinnie and Stanley, and a special brother Glenn.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Dr. Murray, Dr. Buffett and Dr. Ritter, Wanda Barron, RN, and the Home Care Nursing staff. Without their help, Dad would never have been able to stay at home.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019, in the Ingonish United Church from 1-2 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will take place in the church at 2 p.m., with Rev. Carolyn Sharpe officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gerald’s memory may be made to the Buchanan Memorial Hospital Palliative Care. Words of comfort may be forwarded to his family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
