It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wanda Elizabeth Burke on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Strait Richmond Hospital, after a long struggle with kidney disease. She is not leaving behind, but leaving stronger a wonderful husband, Conrad Burke, two beautiful daughters, Leanne Burke and Karen MacDonald, son-in-law Nick MacDonald and the apple of her eye for the past three years, her beautiful granddaughter Ari MacDonald.
Wanda was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. In her younger days, she loved swimming and skating and doing anything that made her family happy. She loved cooking, playing cards, reading and watching The Bold and the Beautiful.
Wanda is survived by her sisters Anne McNamara and Alva MacNeil; brothers Kevin MacNeil, Gerry MacNeil, Gerard & Wanda MacNeil, sister-in-laws Donna MacNeil and Donna Johnson. As well as her husband’s family, Bernard Burke, Clem Burke, Fraser Burke, Richard & Madonna Burke, Carmelita & Blair Landry, Lola & Harold Stevens, Rosemary & Rhodes Kellegrew, Warren and Debbie Burke, John and Wanda Burke and many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents Tom and Josie MacNeil, parent-in-laws Xavier and Edith May Burke; sister Jean Barasso, brothers John MacNeil, Donnie MacNeil and Jimmy MacNeil; brother-in-laws Valentine McNamara, Pat Barasso and Ralph Murray; sister-in-laws Shirley MacNeil, Patsy MacNeil, Mary Burke, and Linda Burke and many Aunts and Uncles.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Strait Richmond Hospital for the exceptional care given to Wanda and her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Strait Richmond Hospital, Palliative Care.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. No visitation by request. Funeral mass and burial will take place at Sacred Heart Church, Johnstown on Friday February 15 at 11:00am.
